Here at Sankofa we don't just learn through play ...
Our goal is to prepare children for the next stage of their lives through the development of motor abilities, thinking skills and healthy interactions with their peers. Keep reading to learn more!
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to support and monitor development.
Art
Its important to allow children to be as creative as possible and to help unleash this creativity we have various art supplies. We have monthly topics that inspire us to paint, crayon, collage and even learning to cut with scissors! Very carefully of course!
Music
Feel good music! We sing nursery rhymes, dance, play musical instruments (like learning to play the drums) and even have action songs.
Movement
An integral part of keeping healthy we move as much as possible! Any excuse to go outside and get some fresh air and we are there! We have onsite yoga classes as well as a great outdoor play area which you can hear more about directly below!
Language & Reading
We have daily discussions on various topics. Looking at the alphabet, learning to Pen & Pencil, the days of the week, month & year. There are a large selection of books for group and self selection at story time (of course accompanied with props!). We also have a selection of puzzles.
Mathematics
We use number sequence and matching as well as sorting games to help make learning about maths more fun. Turn taking puzzles and a science-weighting game to decide whether something will sink or float.
Outside Play
We have slides, a climbing area, swing and plenty of room to run about safely with our rubber safety surface. We use free play and have sports equipment like bikes and scooters. We encourage outside play for everyone.
