Children Sensory Play

About Us

At Sankofa Nursery, we’ve been welcoming families for over 25 years. Founded with love and rooted in community values, our setting is a
place where children are celebrated, nurtured, and inspired every day.  We are a community nursery located in Peckham, providing exceptional care and education for children between the ages of 2-5 years old. Our bright, airy outdoor space offers plenty of room for children to play and explore, fostering their curiosity and creativity.

Our Nursery Environment

Nestled on a quiet street just off Ilderton Road, our purpose-built nursery offers bright, airy rooms and a large outdoor garden where little ones can learn through play all year round. We care for children aged 2 to 5 years and are open Monday to Friday, 8am – 5:45pm, for 50 weeks of the year (excluding Bank Holidays and our two-week Christmas break).

Our Story

Founded over 25 years ago by the late Joyce Baptiste, Sankofa Nursery has always been more than just a childcare setting, it’s a community built on love, learning and legacy. Today, the nursery is proudly led by Michelle and Natasha Baptiste, who continue their mother’s vision of creating a space where every child feels seen, supported and inspired.

We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life. That’s why our highly qualified and passionate educators design activities that nurture the whole child, helping them to grow socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually at their own pace.

Meet Our Educators

Our team of educators at Sankofa Nursery are passionate about early childhood education and dedicated to creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere for children. Each educator brings a unique set of skills and experiences to our nursery, enriching the learning journey of every child in our care.
