Who we are

Welcome to Sankofa Day Nursery.

We are a small nursery that have been running for over 25 years!

Sankofa Nursery is located on a quiet street off Ilderton Road. The building is purpose built with a large outdoor play area. The rooms are light and airy with large windows giving lots of natural sunlight. The building is fully central heated.

We cater for 20 children between the ages of 2-5 years from

8am - 6pm Monday to Friday, for 50 weeks of the year (excluding Bank Holidays and a two week closure period over Christmas).

Our Aims & Objectives

To create a stimulating, caring and safe environment for all children in our care.
To actively promote the development of positive self-image within the children.
To recognise that the child’s needs and safety are paramount and must override all other considerations.
To work in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals.
To actively promote our anti-racist, anti-sexist and equal opportunities policies by introducing appropriate toys, books and games to encourage a positive self-image within the child.
To create a developmentally appropriate curriculum to meet the needs of each individual child.
To formulate and encourage equal opportunities for both children and adults.
To promote learning through play.

Health & Safety

Whilst we believe in encouraging children to be independent and explore their environment, our first thought is always for their safety.

First Aid - We understand that occasional falls can happen but are always fully prepared to deal with any accidents that may occur whilst your child is with us. Our nursery team always includes staff with a full paediatric first aid certificate and we go on regular first aid courses to ensure staff are kept up to date.
Secure entry to the premises -The outside door is locked and only authorised people will be allowed to collect children from the premises.
Staff - All our staff are DBS checked regularly.

Nutrition

We are passionate about nutrition and happiness. We have 3 balanced meals a day along with snacks. We also cater for all dietary requirements such as:

Food allergies and intolerances
Vegetarian or Vegan
Dietary and nutritional specifics
Cultural preferences

As part of our induction process we take specfic notes of your requirements and these are shared with staff and our cook so everyone is aware.
